Early Winter

I hate the cold. I really was hoping for a few more weeks of the heat, but I got out my coats and my boots and have turned on the heater. More so, Dan let me turn on the heater. I don't like being cold, I don't like winter, why is it that we are still living in Utah? Oh that's right we love it here. Maybe one day we will escape.
I do think the mountains look beautiful though. But I just like the tops of the mountains covered in snow, I don't want it to come down any lower.
But the Holidays are coming and with them come the snow, so I guess we have to make a sacrifice for all the family fun and all the wonderful food.

Moving

Packing, packing. Oh how I love packing. Slight exaggeration, packing/moving is the most frustrating thing in the world. At least at this moment in my life.
Honestly if our apartment wasn't so small I think I would live in it for the rest of my life to avoid ever moving again. But here we are, packing boxes to the ceiling, realizing we have to much crap, and stressing about who is going to help us move. Then thinking about where Dan gets in to grad school will decifer where we will move next, it's a constant cycle. You don't realize how good all of you 'settled down' people have it. Never having to think about moving. That shall be my new goal in life, to be settled down in a house and never moving again.
I am very thankful for all the help that we will be receiving on Saturday; I was surprised, when Dan sent out a text, how many people said they would love to help us. Maybe it's payback, because Dan always likes to volunteer for those opportunities when they arise, so thankfully we get to be the receiver of such great service. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
My main stress is that I will be at work while all of this wonderful moving will be taking place. I would like to be there so I can be in charge and boss everyone around and make sure no one is breaking my stuff, but I will pray that everyone is considerate enough to try to be careful... and I'm loading my car full of everything that I am too controlling to let anyone else touch. Trying to illiminate the stress.

What's New?...

So I figured while I was on here I would try to do a little update aswell for all those who read this, which is not that many.
So life is pretty much the same as it always is for us, Dan graduates in just a few weeks, but now he has decided he wants to go ahead and get his Masters in Public Administration. So now he is studying for the big GRE and getting ready to apply for schools. Number one school to get into would be BYU, but we are lowering ourselves to U of U standards and applying there as a back up option (not that it's a bad school). There are also a few other in state schools we are using as a back up plan, but we are praying for BYU.
Dan and I just got back from a fun weekend in Colorado visiting my brother Alan and his family. It was so nice to see them. Little Elsie isn't so little anymore and she is so much fun! I think Dan had the best time with her, as we were driving the long 8-hour drive back, he told me that he just wanted to play with Elsie some more. The things Dan says sometimes just make me fall in love with him all over again.
Oh I also turned 25 over the weekend. Quarter of a century. Remember when you thought 25 was soooo old. But I'm glad I got to spend my birthday with my amazing husband AND Alan, Ally, and Elsie. Not to mention the blow out Elsie had while we were at dinner, that may have been the most exciting part.
Dan and I are moving next month to Pleasant Grove, we found such a great set up. We are renting out the top portion of a house. Huge, 2-bedrooms, 2-baths, beautiful, washer/dryer. We are really excited to get into such a nice place, but we HATE moving. Hopefully Dan gets into BYU and we can plan on staying there until we buy something.
Well, that is all of the excitement. Love you all!

New Look

I gave my blog a new look, because I guess some people were having a hard time reading it. You're welcome!

New York

I was originally going to try to update my blog quite frequently while we were out here in New York, but we have four days left and I have yet to update my blog. Ha!
Well to start, New York has been amazing. We have done everything we ever wanted, first step was New York pizza at Grimaldi's. Honestly the best pizza I have ever had, a little tiny place under the Brooklyn bridge, where they only accept cash and you have to wait outside in line for usually close to an hour. Then they sit you at a table directly next to someone else. But it's all worth it, best part is the cheese. I love New York's cheese.
Dan and I have been lucky enough to go to a Mets game and a Yankees game, both games were so fun. But I remember the Mets game being absolutely freezing. Good times.
For our wonderful one year anniversary, Dan took me to eat at the Olive Garden in Times Square (it was perfect because we went and ate at the Olive Garden on our wedding day in suit and dress), then after dinner we went to my first ever Broadway show. It was a play called The Normal Heart. I loved it and Dan and I were able to go to many other Broadway places while we were out here. Wonderland, Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked. All for a very decent price too!
We ventured to Ground Zero one weekend, and I was disappointed that you really couldn't see anything, but at the same time you just had that feeling that this is where it all happened and we had to take a moment and remember.
I am having a hard time remembering everything...
Central Park is amazing... It's honestly the biggest park I have ever seen in my life and I have probably only seen a small portion of it. Dan and I even took a row boat out on the lake that they have there. Which was wonderful in the hot, hot day that it was.
I took many trips to fifth avenue to admire all the stuff that I can never afford, including many trips into Tiffany's to stare at the sparkling diamonds. Loved it.
Times Square really is a fun place to visit, it reminds me of Vegas, only better. That might be personal opinion, because I don't really care to do any of the gambling and drinking in Vegas, but Times Square you will see the most diversity of course 90% of the people there are tourists, but you are constantly hearing a different language. Truthfully all of New York City is that way, you are always turning and seeing different people all around you. I just love all the bright lights and fancy screens that they have up. Even Chase Bank has their logo spinning to compete with the Times Square wonderland.
The subway is also an experience, crammed into a subway car, hearing the screeching breaks, being thrown about as the subway is tossed and turned in the underground tunnels. I really love the subway, I think it is the most amazing form of transportation, but my hugest fear is that I would fall into the tracks and not be able to get out of the way of the train. I have been safe, but I have heard of that really happening.
Oh, I forgot the most adventurous part of this trip. My getting lost on the subway. It seems like forever ago and I am such a pro at the subway now, but this one time I went to visit Dan for lunch and he told me how to get there and I was confident that I could do it by myself. So I took the subway for a while and then I had to get off to do a transfer, and I went right to the spot where Dan told me to go and I got on the train. This train wasn't the right train, this train went to Coney Island. So I am riding this train probably for 30 minutes, before I start to think this isn't really the right train, so I have to get off to call Dan since the Subway never has cell phone service. And I call Dan and I have no idea where I am and I start crying my eyes out and I just want him to come find me, even though we don't know where I am. So he tells me how to get back, so I go get on another train and take the train for a while and then this guy tells me that I am heading to Queens and that I am not on the right train, once again crying, finally I find something familiar and take it a couple of stops to Dan's work. Meanwhile, Dan hasn't been able to get a hold of me for a while(let's say an hour or so), so he has told my mother and my father that he lost me in New York City. My mother of course is in hysterics and I am crying to much to talk to anyone. It was all very exciting and it actually is hilarious now thinking back. Lesson learned, be more observant about which train you are getting on. And get a map.
Wow! New York really has been the best and we are going to miss a lot of things about this place, but we don't have air conditioning and we want to come home.
Okay there is as much of an update about New York as we're going to get. I am grateful for the adventure Dan and I were able to take, and I will always remember it. But we are coming home Utah... get ready.

Every Once in a While

It seems like I only update my blog, like every 3 months. Not very often. But truthfully I'm not that great at remembering to do it. I can barely remember brushing my teeth before going to bed. I'm trying to think what has happened to us most often.
For one, I have 3 sisters. All 3 of them are having babies this year. Kim had her little girl Danielle about a month ago, she's just a tiny adorable addition to the family. And both Michelle and Lisa are expecting boys. Michelle is due in June and Lisa in August. So do I get the pressure about being the only sister in the family not birthing a child anytime soon? Yes, I do. But Dan and are completely irresponsible, I don't think a child would survive with us at the moment. That will have to be a down the road adventure for us.
As for Dan and I, Dan has about a month left of classes. And then we're off to New York. It seems a little bit sureal, but it's happening. No going back now. I'm excited, other than I have no idea what I'm going to do with my time out there, I'm sure it will be a great time. I mean there's Broadway, shopping, eating. It's the life, right? I'll just have to try not to spend all of our money the first week we're out there. We get to celebrate our anniversary out there aswell as Dan's birthday. I think we're going to attempt a Yankees game. Once in a lifetime opportunity for us.
The weather is finally getting warmer, I mean not today, but I haven't had to wear my coat to much. Which I really love the warm weather, so I'm looking forward to sunnier days. Especially because I love taking walks with Dan up the Provo canyon, or just walks anywhere. And wearing sandals! And laying in the sun. Oh I miss you summer!
Well that's really all I have time to update for now. And truthfully there's not to much going on. We're just loving life and spending time with our family and friends. It's a wonderful life.

New Year

Since I'm not very good at posting about my life, here's an update.
It's a new year, and a new semester. I'm still working for the bank, waiting to hear whether I get a raise and how much my bonus will be(if I get one, I'm keeping my fingers crossed). Working on employee performance reviews, which are never fun. And waiting for Dan to be done with school. Last semester until he graduates and I'm so proud.
Dan was accepted into the New York Internship program at BYU and we found out he will be interning with Newsweek for six weeks starting in May. Luckily I get to go with him, because I would be too sad to be away from him for those long six weeks. I plan on doing lots of updating on my blog while I'm there. Making it my journal of adventures. We are very excited to be living in the big city, even if we'll be living poorly, we'll still be living that life together.
Dan also got a part-time job working at BYU, writing for one of the colleges. I'm just glad to be having another paycheck come in.
This year has lots of decisions ahead for us. After Dan graduates we actually have to figure life out instead of playing it by ear. Not sure where we'll end up. We always hope that we'll stay in Utah, but it won't be too bad if we have to spend a few years out of state figuring out our careers. Hopefully good things to come.
